Rev. Ernest Aaron Miller gives leadership to this mininstry and has served diligently at the McCoy Church as an Associate Minister for over 14 years in various capacities.
The Counseling Ministry consists of trained lay men and women. When individuals come forward during the Invitational Period, it is the responsibility of the Counselors to explain God’s plan of Salvation through Jesus Christ, and pray with those who are unsaved (or unsure) to receive Salvation. They then schedule a date for New Members’ Class and Baptism If necessary.
During our first meeting, we briefly outline the doctrines of the Church which are the infallible Word of God; the Triune God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit); Salvation through Jesus Christ; the Security of the Believer; the Ordinances of the Church (Baptism and The Lord’s Supper); and the Second Coming of Christ. These doctrines are taught more thoroughly during New Members’ Class.
Our primary concern as counselors is to challenge and coach the new members into becoming more like Christ; to realize their spiritual gifts within the Body of Christ; and to walk in their divine purpose. We nurture them to become firmly rooted and grounded in the faith with consistent follow-up, mentoring and prayer. Our desire is for newcomers to feel that they have a point of contact and a friend at McCoy.
