Dr. R.A. Williams Jr.,
Dr. R.A. Williams, Jr., a native of Houston, Texas, possesses a contagious spirit of generosity that flows through every facet of his ministry. He has a tremendous passion for God’s word coupled with a love for God’s people. Having received his mandate from God, Pastor Williams obediently fulfills his calling as the proud Pastor of the McCoy Memorial Baptist Church located in Los Angeles, California for more than 30 years. His vision is uncompromisingly clear, with one central principle; to build and develop a kingdom of empowered people for God.
He is a graduate of Texas Southern University where he attained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and a Minor in Economics. He later received his Masters of Divinity in Theological Studies and a Doctorate Degree from California Graduate School of Theology. Recently he was also awarded a second Doctorate Degree of Divinity from Faith Seminary in Tacoma, Washington.
Dr. Williams is sought after as a preacher and scholar. He has received a host of fellowships, honors, awards and citations, noting his abiding commitment to Christian ministry and disciplined scholarship. Dr. Williams was knighted a “Kentucky Colonel” in 1984 by Governor Collins of the State of Kentucky.
Additionally, he has taken the gospel into national and international communities of the world; his vision has always been global. Currently, Dr. Williams is affiliated with many organizations; the Los Angeles District Association, Western Baptist State Convention, National Baptist Convention USA, Inc., and the Los Angeles Police Clergy Council.
As an avid expositor of God’s word and an advocate of pastors preaching the unadulterated word of God, Dr. Williams founded and serves as the President of WHW Ministers Conference. This conference is held annually where preachers from all over the country and other parts of the world come to sit under his tutelage to learn how expository preaching. He recently founded another conference, “Preaching is my Business,” where preachers not only learn about the art of effective preaching, but how to pastor successfully as well.
Dr. Williams has been blessed to have been given the opportunity to minister to people from all over the world, spanning the globe from the North Pole to the South. He has been the Key Note Speaker in the Gulf Coast Keswick Convention, and Southwestern Seminary, which is the largest seminary in the world. He has also been the speaker at both National Conventions and Educational institutions nationwide. Dr. Williams has had the awesome privilege to minister and to see God’s Holy Spirit moving in power all over the world.
As you can see, Dr. Williams has a multi-faceted ministry, burning heart after Jesus, hunger of revival, and a burden to see a lost world come to Jesus, which serve as the earmarks of Pastor Williams’ ministry. He has recently authored two books: God, Grits and More and The Making of a Champion.
Dr. Williams and wife Debra Williams are proud parents of three daughters and one son; Trina, Gabrielle, Laura and Derrick.
